OUTREACH
We use museographic, curatorial, and cultural production tools to raise public awareness about the importance of the Huichol People's biocultural heritage. Over the past 30 years, we have produced and collaborated on a variety of scientific and cultural events, exhibitions, videos, and publications.

Co-production of the “WirikutaFest” music festival (with over 58,000 attendees) at Foro Sol in Mexico City, in collaboration with the entertainment company OCESA, the international musicians’ consortium Colectivo Ahó, more than a dozen Mexican civil society organizations, and the agrarian authorities of various Huichol communities.

Production of the "Virtual Huichol Museum." A 16-part video series. Two Huichol delegates interpret the historic collection of Huichol artifacts collected by Konrad T. Preuss during his 1905 expedition to Nayarit, now housed at the Ethnological Museum in Berlin. Supported by the Berlin University of the Arts and Peoples & Nature e.V.

Mucu mú ta iyari - This Is What We Think From the Heart. A 22-minute documentary about the illegal Bolaños-Tenzompa-Huejuquilla highway project in El Alto, Jalisco. Co-produced with the Festival de Cine en el Campo and the Tuapurie Community.

The Path Forward. A 10-minute video to promote the Huichol People's Cultural Landscapes Conservation Initiative.

Production of the informational video Huiricuta – Natural and Cultural Reserve, in both Spanish and English. With the support of the production company La Maroma and Grupo ACIR.
1996
Co-editing and post-production of the 35mm documentary film The Magical Land of Peyote by John and Colette Lilly, based on footage filmed during pilgrimages to sacred sites and in the Huichol Sierra since 1969. This work included sessions with maracate and jicuritámete from Tuapurie at our post-production facilities to ensure careful handling of the content. Supported by CONACULTA – FONCA. Project in progress.

“Totu's Big Journey.” A children's story for non-Huichol children ages 3 to 6 who live along the Huichol Biocultural Corridor. This educational project for social transformation is implemented by Think Equal in collaboration with CHAC. Distributed through CONAFE to promote equality, empathy, and critical thinking in areas affected by violence.

2023

Research, curation, and co-production of the virtual exhibition "Coloniality of Gender and Sexuality: How the Intimate Lives of the Wixárika People Changed Forever." The exhibition explores gender and sexuality practices, identities, and cultures that have transformed from the Colonial period to the present, based on extensive research and historiographic review. Interactive materials were used, including videos, art, music, narrations in Wixárika, Spanish, and English, as well as archival documents. The exhibition is a collaboration among the Huichol community of Tuapurie, the Santo Domingo Center of Excellence for Latin American Research (SDCELAR) at the British Museum, University College London (UCL), CIESAS Occidente, and CHAC.

In collaboration with the BBVA Bancomer Foundation, the Real de Catorce Cultural Center, the Ministry of Culture of San Luis Potosí, the Zacatecano Museum of Culture, and the National Museum of Mexican Art.

In collaboration with artist Eduardo Abaroa and Regina Tattersfield, curation, production, and installation of the exhibition "Huixárika Biocultural Codex – 23 Years of Conservación Humana AC" at the XII FEMSA Biennial Nunca Fuimos Contemporáneos. Zacatecano Museum, Zacatecas, Zacatecas.
